Synopsis: Based on a true story, Jesus Land follows Julia Scheeres and her adopted brother David as they struggle to survive a turbulent childhood in a rigid, pseudo-Christian household and a hostile 1980s Indiana community. When rebellion against their abusive parents lands them in a brutal reform school in the Dominican Republic, the siblings cling to each other and to the dream of a freer, more compassionate life. At its heart, the story is one of resilience, identity, and hope in the face of oppression.
